Lima Police Department Sergeant Dave Gillispie was honored at Ohio Attorney
General Mike Dewine’s Law Enforcement Conference in Columbus on October
26th. Sgt. Gillispie and nine other members of the F.B.I. Northwest Ohio Violent
Crimes Against Children Task Force won the Distinguished Law Enforcement
Group Achievement Award for efforts in combating juvenile sex trafficking.
The multi-jurisdictional task force has representatives from federal, state and
local agencies, including the F.B.I., Ohio B.C.I., Ohio Highway Patrol, L.P.D., Toledo P.D., Perrysburg Township P.D., Fulton and Ottawa County Sheriff’s
Departments. Using a “victim-centered approach”, the task force has recovered or identified more than 100 juvenile victims of prostitution and has federally charged 20 subjects.
Sgt. Gillispie has been with the Lima Police Department since 1996, serving as
a Community Police Officer, Tactical Officer, Bicycle Officer, member of the
P.A.C.E. team and West Central Ohio Crime Task Force prior to promotion to
the rank of sergeant. As part of the Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force Sgt. Gillispie holds a Special Investigator’s Commission
with the F.B.I.
