Responsibilities of the Auditor's Office

The auditor is the city's chief fiscal officer. The auditor's office is in charge of accounts payable, payroll, purchasing and presenting the city's financial statement each year. In addition, we are responsible for ensuring compliance with the budget, expenditures, and that all State and Federal laws regarding finances are followed. The city auditor position is an elected position with a 4-year term.

City Auditor Randall S. Bartels

Randy has served in this position since 2014. Randy is a lifelong resident of Allen County graduating from Elida High School in 1982. Randy graduated from The Ohio State University in 1999, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis on accounting.

Chief Deputy Auditor / Director of Audit Services

This position is responsible for supervision in the day-to-day functions of the Auditor's Office. In addition, the Chief Deputy Auditor prepares the annual basic financial statements for the City, following generally accepted accounting principles as applied to local government entities, and facilitates the annual audit performed by the Auditor of State.
